mAh (milliamp hours) indicates the battery’s capacity—how much energy it can store. A higher mAh means longer run time but also longer charging time.

Most RC batteries are charged at 1C, meaning the charge current matches the battery’s capacity (e.g. a 3000mAh battery charges at 3A / 3000mA). Some modern batteries support faster charging (such as 2C or higher), but only if specified by the manufacturer. Charging above the recommended rate can damage the battery or shorten its lifespan.

To safely charge a LiPo battery, always use a LiPo-compatible balance charger and select the correct battery settings (cell count and charge rate). Charge at the recommended rate (typically 1C unless stated otherwise), and always use the balance lead to ensure each cell charges evenly. Never leave a LiPo battery unattended while charging, and place it in a fire-resistant LiPo safety bag or container on a non-flammable surface. Always check the battery for damage, swelling, or loose wires before charging, and never charge a damaged battery.
