About Vallejo paints

Vallejo makes several acrylic ranges, each with its own number series on the bottle. Model Colour (70.xxx) is the brush-painting range, with a dense matt finish loved by figure and vehicle painters. Model Air (71.xxx) comes ready thinned for the airbrush and covers a large range of military and aircraft colours. Game Colour (72.xxx) is the bright, high-contrast range for wargaming and fantasy figures. Vallejo also makes Xpress Colour one-coat paints, Metal Colour airbrush metallics and washes.

In the picker, Vallejo paints are grouped by range, most popular range first, and listed in code order. You can search with or without the range number, e.g. 70.951 or 951.

Vallejo paint questions

Can I brush paint with Model Air?

Yes. Model Air is thinner than Model Colour, so it covers best in several light coats when brushed.

Can I airbrush Model Colour?

Yes, once thinned. Vallejo's own Thinner and Airbrush Flow Improver help it spray smoothly without clogging.

Why does the same number appear in different Vallejo ranges?

Each range has its own numbering, so 70.951 (Model Colour) and 71.001 (Model Air) are different paints. Always check the range as well as the number.

How should I store Vallejo dropper bottles?

Close them firmly, store them upright and shake well before use; adding a mixing ball helps older bottles mix.
