A total of 169 units were built in several series and slightly different designs. Due to their distinctive exhaust noise, they have become known among railway workers and railway enthusiasts as \"Sikken\" or \"Sik\" - singular for \"goat\".\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eFifteen of these machines were fitted with cranes in the 1970s. After the original green paintwork, the yellow and grey colour scheme was later used. These hardworking little workhorses were in tireless use all over the Netherlands. In the second half of the 1990s, stricter occupational health and safety regulations led to the decommissioning of the remaining locomotives.
