The Jenbacher works in Tyrol built a total of 65 of these two-axle small diesel locomotives by 1966. With its striking, cast-iron front shields, which serve as ballast weights, the locomotive was used throughout Austria in shunting and construction train service. On the Lower Austrian branch lines, these locomotives were used to pull passenger trains with one or two carriages. The last locomotives were taken out of normal service in 2003.
