It was the first expansion stage of an Austria-wide coordinated public transport network. This was the most extensive timetable change since the existence of the ÖBB, including a noticeable quantitative increase in the number of trains on many routes.

The D 704/705 was an express train from Vienna Westbahnhof via Amstetten and Selzthal to Bischofshofen, which only ran on certain days (weekends, holidays, etc.) and was introduced with the "NAT 91". However, it did not take the usual route via Salzburg - but via the Gesäuse and Ennstal. This route is shorter in terms of kilometers, but did not offer any better travel time due to the poorer standard of construction and the higher number of stops. In the "NAT91" the train needed 5 hours 8 minutes for the entire route. With the direct IC trains via Salzburg that ran every two hours, you could get to Bischofshofen after just 4 hours 11 minutes. However, the train was not so much a direct connection between Vienna and Bischofshofen, but rather a connection to the tourist destinations in the Ennstal. This train stood out for its variety of rolling stock and traction vehicles. Whatever was available at the time and was not missing for a day was used.
Model
Set of 1:87 Scale coaches decorated in OBB livery.
