Siemens Mobility developed the Vectron DE to give operators a contemporary diesel alternative that still benefits from the Vectron’s proven systems, train control architecture and interoperability.\nUnder the hood, the Vectron DE is powered by an MTU 16V 4000 R84 diesel engine producing around 2,700 kW, allowing it to haul both freight and passenger trains on unelectrified lines with a top speed of approximately 160 km\/h, suitable for fast regional and mainline duties.
