Developed by Deutsche Bundesbahn in the 1960s, the Class 103 was designed to haul the fastest and heaviest InterCity trains on Germany’s expanding electrified main lines. Its sleek, powerful design quickly made it a symbol of modern high-speed rail.\nBuilt between 1965 and 1976, a total of 145 locomotives were produced. With a Bo'Bo' wheel arrangement, advanced three-phase electrical systems and a continuous power output of around 7,440 kW, the Class 103 was engineered for sustained high-speed service.
