Introduced in 1949, the design was based on pre-war templates but adapted for post-war needs with improvements in reliability and maintenance simplicity. A total of 200 locomotives were produced by Fablok in Chrzanów, making the TKt48 a familiar sight across Poland’s non-electrified secondary routes for decades.\nThe TKt48 features a 2-C-2 (4-6-4T) wheel arrangement, giving it excellent stability in both directions — a useful trait for tight curves and frequent changes of direction on branch lines.
