Only five examples were ever built, numbered 1067 .01 to .05, making them true rarities in Austrian railway history. These locomotives were constructed by Jenbacher Werke with a central cab and an innovative electro-hydraulic drive, where an electric motor drove a hydraulic transmission — a design influenced by contemporary diesel technology that aimed to reduce stress on electrical equipment.\nDeployed primarily for shunting duties, the Rh 1067 units were painted in fir green or later blood-orange liveries.
