These trains were constructed by a consortium of Bombardier, Siemens and DWA and designed for short- and medium-distance passenger traffic with frequent stops thanks to their high acceleration and lightweight aluminium body. The Class 425 consists of four-car articulated sets that share jacobs bogies and provide efficient suburban and regional service, while the related Class 426 version uses a similar design in a two-car formation.
