These locomotives were specially engineered to run on both the 3 kV DC network in Czechoslovakia and the 15 kV AC system in East Germany. Following the successful testing of a prototype, fourteen production locomotives entered service in 1991, based at the Decin depot.\nWith the establishment of CD Cargo in 2007, nine locomotives were transferred to the new freight division. As the only CD Cargo locomotives certified for operation in Germany until 2016, they were progressively modernised and repainted in the company’s colours.\nToday, these versatile locomotives are primarily tasked with freight duties across the Decin\/Bad Schandau border and on to Dresden and Leipzig.
